| Report: | Having chosen to play squash on his wedding anniversary, and dragging his son William along as an excuse, Andrew probably wished he had stayed at home for some funtime with Mrs DK. The scoreline either reflected Paul’s generosity, or that his thoughts may already been on the sausage and chips to come. Andrew might have been more concerned with the almost certain beating awaiting him when he got home!
To make matters worse, and further delay his dad’s trip home, William decided he would make another old man suffer by taking his match against Sutton the Elder to 5 games, closing out the 2nd & third quite emphatically. However, in a repeat of the first, the fourth and fifth swung back in favour of the old guard.
The 3rd string match was a somewhat one-sided affair with Sutton the Younger unusually in control of proceedings throughout. Although Rob did take the lead briefly in the last game.
In the fourth string match Dan, being the generous guy he is, convinced Simon and the hoards of onlookers that he really wasn’t very good. Simon’s serve and volley approach proved effective against the barrage flowing from his opponents racket, taking the game to a fifth set, only to see the wheels fall off at mid-way, and Dan cruise in to claim the last remaining point for the team.
Desperate to get away to his beloved; waiting at home with his pipe and slippers at the door, Andrew still found time to stay for a pint. Happy anniversary!
