| Report: | Captain Hall got the home team off to a solid start with a solid 3-0 win over Shaun Murgatroyd. Gary Powley followed this with a strange 3-2 win over Patrick Sarkies, recovering from 0-1 1-11 down, to narrowly lose the 2nd before continuing his winning run into the 3rd game with an 13-2 score, followed by 2 more games to complete an unexpected recovery. So 2-0 to the home team somehow. Adam Kobylecki kept the visitors in the tie with a competitive 13/11,14/12,13/5 win over Cathy Cramer, before Richard Barnes was able to use all his experience to save 4 game balls in the 2nd before clinching his match 3-0 against the plucky Craig Cochran.
Despite Broadland winning the tie, alot of interest remained in the final match between Broadland 'old boy' Jordan Bowman, and Sam Jones.
With a packed gallery of both teams and the usual members of the Jones family in support, an entertaining and competitive match followed.
Jordan managed to save 5 game balls in the first, only to blow his own chance at 13-12, and lose the first 13-15. Sam went on to record another close 13-11 win in the second for a 2-0 lead. Jordan came back 13-10 in the third before giving up 3 more game balls in the fourth as Sam ran away with the last 5 points and the match 3-1.
Great evening of Norfolk squash, played in a perfect atmosphere with Broadland just edging the crucial games along the way. On another day Wensum could have easily taken the win.
I think dinner (including dessert) went down well too.
