| Report: | Ashley Bowling from Barnham Broom put in a professional performance to see off a slow starting Will Henden for the first 2 games, before Will upped his game for the third, and take this game into a tie break. Too much damage had been done earlier however,and Ashley was able to close out the match 14-12 for a 3-0 win.
Paul Atterton took the first game against Simon Howling, but was unable to make further progress, going down 3-1. Steve Moxey also put in his usual 100% which was enough to edge out Peter Hubbard 3-0 on this occasion, which left the match hinging to the 4th string game between Sam Henden & Stuart Sutton. Stuart took the first 2 games securing the 4 bonus points for the Broom team, but under the expert guidance of former US Champion and Richard Experience guest Will Carlin, Sam was able to recover to 2-2 to contest what became the best match of the evening. The 5th was extremely hard fought and closely contested, just what we like. Throughout the match Stuart had displayed his now legendary level of sportsmanship by calling several of his shot attempts down, when it was not entirely obvious to the marker(me). This ensured a great atmosphere right up to the final few moments when Sam unfortunately made a couple of unforced errors to allow Stuart to deservedly take the last 2 points for a 13-11 win. A another great evening of squash to end the season for the Broadland Team. |
