| Report: | Broadland were able to take advantage of the absence of Rossis captain Tom Smith, by claiming hard fought victories at 2nd and 3rd strings by Steve Moxey and Paul Atterton. Steve battling back from 1-2 against Matt Sumner, and Paul saving multiple game balls in the second a fourth games to eventually beat Martin Guppy 3-1. Gavin Brewer stepped up from the lower teams to make the team u,p but could not compete against the improving youngster Robert Thirst. This left the match result hinging on the first string match between Will Henden and Matt Bolt. The first 3 games were close, and saw Matt recover from 0-1 to lead 2-1. At the beginning of the fourth Will quickly established a big lead, and Matt quickly decided to save himself for the deciding game. 2-2. The last game was keenly contested and one particular rally early on saw both players doubled up with the effort. Will recovered the quickest to take a small lead but Matt recovered and the game proceeded to 11 all. Will managed to hold his nerve to take the last 2 points and record his best result of the season, and possibly best ever team match win. |
