Report: | Croft got Broom off to a great start with a closely fought (only 7 points separated them), but nonetheless solid 3-0 win over the very experienced and ever youthful Paul. Sutton jnr followed this with a strong performance against Herrieven. Although making the early running in the first, a nine point run by his opponent saw him lose the first. Galvanised by this setback, Sutton turned the tables in the 2nd and 3rd. Wrapping things up comfortably in 4. Despite going behind to Geaves in early exchanges, a 9 point run saw Sutton snr. take the first. Turning the tables in the 2nd, Geaves wasted little time in securing the second with ease. Having recovered his poise, Sutton once again upped the pace and won the third in similar fashion. A rejuvenated Geaves gained the upper hand in the fourth, but once again to the surprise of the massed spectator (Wes), a solid start by Sutton in the 5th saw him cruise to another 5 set victory. With the bonus points already in the bag, Allenden was evidently in a relaxed frame of mind in the first game, which he used to his advantage, cruising through with negligible resistance from Keeble. While still in his zen-like state, the second was similarly one-sided, with Keeble fully alert; drawing level with similar ease. Awoken, Allenden reasserted himself in the 3rd and, having lead from the start, took the most closely contested 4th, to cap off a somewhat surprising but pleasing team performance |
