Richard Self and Ben Warminger got the team off to a flying start with 3-0 wins before the match of the night at No 2, where the youthful exuberance and speed around court of Sam McCluskey got the better of Terry Brookes, eventually seeing the match out 13-8 in the fifth. At the top of the order, and with the match in the bag, Mark Heazle failed to add to the points with a 3-0 loss to the hard-hitting Sean Higginbotham. Both teams enjoyed the first post-match hospitality at the White Horse in Chedgrave and will look forward to the return match.
