| Report: | Life was always going to tough for the Broadland Team without their no.1, Ian Cox, against one of the strongest teams in the League. Justin Millar and Sam Henden managed to pinch the first games from their Bannatynes opponents before they were properly warmed up, but were unable to get any further joy. Steve Moxey and Paul Atterton found the going equally difficult in putting points on the board against Paul Gedge and Jordan Creed respectively . Although Paul did manage to save 3 games balls against Steve to record his 3-0 win.
The last opportunity for Broadland to add to their 2 point haul rested with the youthful Will Henden against the seasoned David Gouldby. Shoeless Will Henden playing in borrowed fluorescent orange trainers, was up for the challenge taking the first game with some attacking boasts. Dave took the next 2 with some consistent play and few errors. Will recovered from 6-2 down to level at 11 all, and then grab the next 2 points to level at 2-2. The final game saw a similar pattern with Dave taking an early lead only to be pegged back to 9 all. Will then saved 2 match balls before finally clinching the match 16-14, to add 3 points to his teams tally and prevent a Bannatynes maximum. A great match from both players. |
