Report

Report:In the opening match Josh Hall for Broadland, saved 2 game balls in the third to take the match 3-0, and set a pattern for the evening with the home team clinching all of the crucial points.
Dad Richard followed suit giving his usual 100%, but looked second favourite when Josh Sibley cruised through the fourth 13-4 to get back to 2-2. Richard started the final game strongly before Josh recovered with 5 points in a row to tie things up at 11 all. In the next point Josh stretched for a mid-court ball with Richard in close quarters, and produced an error when a request for a let would have been a better option. Richards subsequent serve at 12-11 match ball was to be the final stroke of the match with his serve rolling out of the back wall nick for an ace.
Meanwhile Steve Cunningham was also getting his fair share of crucial points. 14-12 in the first game, 13-11 in the second from 8-11 down before a more comfortable 13-8 to finish things off.
Lastly, home favourite Justin Millar produced his usual array of brilliant finishing shots mixed in with a fair share of errors for another entertaining and sporting match. Justin took the first, and then the second comfortably 13-4 to open up a 2-0 lead, but Shaun returned the favour to take the third just as comfortably 13-6. The fourth was a cracker with Shaun striving to keep the match alive, and Justin desperately needing to finish it in 4, and playing some of his best squash as a result. At 12 all it was anybody's match, but yes, you have guessed it. Once again Justin was fortunate enough to clinch the final 2 cricial points to win the game 14-12, and match 3-1.
So a flattering 4-0 win for the home team. A result which on any other day would have been much, much closer. Many thanks to the visitors for a friendly and sporting evening.
