| Report: | Broadland II resumed normal service with another narrow 3-2 win over Rossis II. With both teams unable to field full strength teams, the home team were dominant at the top of the order winning 3-0 at 1 & 2 strings, and Rossis doing likewise at 4 & 5 strings, the match hinged on the 3rd string match, Sam Henden v Will O'Connell. Both players were rapid around the court, and numerous lengthy rallies took place. Will's volleying was a regular source of points, and Sam's retreiving constantly kept the pressure on. With the game at 1-1 Sam critially recovered from behing to pinch the third 13-11, and probably just had the greater fitness to close out the fourth to win 3-1. Great effort by both players, and a great match.
Captain Bond played his best match of the season. Richard Fiske, Broadland's most consistent player of the season, put in yet another solid performance, and special thanks also go to Mark Woolner and Mike Cramer for turning out at late notice to ensure all matches were completed.
Phil and the rest of the Rossis guys were great company as always. |
