| Report: | Albie and Paul for Barnham got the home side off to a positive start. Albie boosted his confidence with his first win of the season, proving a little too strong for Alex. Sean once again provided a stern test for Paul, despite Paul winning the first comfortably. The three games that followed were much more closely contested, with neither player really dominating the scoring. Paul appeared in charge of much of the fourth, going 10-6 up, only for Sean before Paul applied the coup de grace. Sage words from acting team coach Adam Goodson (resting a dodgy knee) eventually got Stuart across the line against Ben after going 2-1 down and Ben winning 8 points in a row in the fourth, only to lose it 12-10. With Ben tiring in the fifth Stuart took a significant lead, but a final push saw Ben claw his way back to make it a close finish. Neil playing at no. 3 was a tough ask for Mark, although he gave a good account of himself in the first two, and started the 3rd positively, only to lose his focus allowing Neil to win 9 points in a row to take the win.
All games were played in a good spirit and everyone adjourned to The Bell for food and drink which was enjoyed by all. |
